A collaboration in twenty
sections, this poem reveals both
poets at their most lyric and playful, but ultimately the matters
are serious, as we see in these intricate "chartings"
of language.
Perhaps the most challenging visual book by Chax Press to date,
this oversize volume measures 13.5 inches x 11.25 inches when
closed. Its binding is a two-signature sewing cased into boards
covered with oriental Moriki papers of a deep red color. Endsheets
are reversible black and white Unryu paper. Individual pages are
printed with large, yellow, 4-inch block letters in random patterns.
The poems have been printed on handmade mulberry papers that are
torn by hand and collaged into the sheets of the book. Hundreds
of hours, and several years in the making, this is a book that
extends Chax Press's explorations of possible book forms in harmony
with innovative literary texts. All printing is letterpress on
a Vandercook Press. All binding is by hand in the Chax press studios.
